Intern

Jane James

Counselling Therapist Intern

Hello! My name is Jane James (she/her), and I am counselling therapist intern at Couch of HOPE. I completed a Master of Science in Psychology in 2016 and am currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) at Yorkville University. For the last few years, I have enjoyed living and working in the local community as a Personal Development Coach and Career Practitioner, an experience which has taught me the importance of accessibility to robust mental health supports and services, for all!

My approach to counselling is person-centered, collaborative, and strengths-based, drawing from evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. No one size fits all and I value and appreciate the uniqueness of each individual and look forward to working with you to find the best approach to meet your unique needs.

I believe in creating a warm, supportive, nonjudgemental environment, grounded in empathy, compassion, and understanding, one in which you feel safe and empowered to share your story and explore your strengths.

It is my honour and privilege to be part of your journey, and I look forward to walking beside you as we navigate life’s challenges.
