Patricia Borja

Counselling Therapist Intern

Hello! My name is Patricia Borja (she/her), and I am a counselling intern completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. I am excited to be part of the Couch of Hope team and to support clients on their journeys toward healing and growth. My background as a Canadian Filipino and first-generation immigrant has shaped my
understanding of how culture, family expectations, and stigma can affect mental health. Because of this, I am passionate about offering a safe, inclusive space for individuals who may not have always felt encouraged to seek support.

For nearly eight years, I also worked in an assisted living retirement home, supporting residents living with dementia, Alzheimer’s, cancer, and other life-altering conditions. This experience taught me the value of patience, presence, and empathy while working with individuals and families during some of their most vulnerable moments. My therapeutic approach is client-centered, collaborative, and rooted in empathy.

I aim to offer diversity and inclusivity in my work, especially for communities where seeking support has often carried stigma or barriers. My areas of interest include supporting clients with anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and family dynamics, while remaining flexible and open to addressing whatever concerns are most meaningful to you.

My goal is to walk with you as you explore your feelings and cultivate balance and empowerment. Choosing to seek support is an act of courage, and I am committed to offering a space where you feel truly heard and understood.
