Hi there, my name is Mike Richey (he/him). I am a counselling intern at Couch of Hope and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) student at Yorkville University.
For the past 20 years, I have supported at-risk youth as they navigate trauma, addictions, mental health challenges, and identity exploration. These experiences have shaped both my personal and professional journey and inspired my transition to one-on-one therapeutic work with adolescents and adults.
My approach is person-centered, built on safety, trust, and authenticity. I strive to create a space free of judgment where your perspectives, values, and lived experiences guide our work together.
In my practice, I draw from narrative therapy, which emphasizes that you are not defined by your past and that your future is not predetermined. You have the power to write your own story. I also integrate solution-focused therapy (SFT) to help identify and build on strengths and resources you may not even realize you have.
My focus areas include complex trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and depression, but I am here to support you with whatever challenges you may be facing. Life can be difficult, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. I’m here to listen and to walk alongside you every step of the way.
