Hello and Welcome!
My name is Jenna Bouwman (she/her), and I am a Counselling Therapist Intern completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts in Political Sciences from Acadia University and a Bachelor of Education from Mount Saint Vincent University. My experiences supporting diverse communities and advocating for accessible care in both education and mental health settings inspire my commitment to creating a respectful, affirming, and culturally responsive space for my clients.
It takes resilience to navigate a world that’s not built with your needs in mind. Systemic barriers can leave us feeling stuck and overwhelmed. I’m committed to supporting those overlooked by traditional systems of care.
I believe growth is possible for everyone, and healing begins in connection. When we feel safe, seen, and understood, we find the courage to show up as we are and the freedom to imagine new ways of being.
These beliefs inform my strengths-based, collaborative, and client-centered approach. I tend to draw from psychodynamic, humanistic, narrative, and feminist orientations, while integrating other modalities to offer support that feels right for you. I strive to meet you with empathy and curiousity, honour your story, amplify your voice, and ensure your goals lead the path forward.
It’s my privilege to walk alongside you in this season of your journey.
