Hi there!
My name is Andrew Wong, and I’m currently completing my Master of Education in Counselling at the University of New Brunswick. As part of my program, I’m excited to be fulfilling my counselling internship here at Couch of Hope.
Throughout my studies and life experience, I’ve been drawn to connecting with others through a person-centred lens—one that values empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard. I don’t believe in "fixing" anyone. Instead, I aim to shine a light on the challenges you're facing and support you as you move toward greater self-understanding and personal growth. It’s an honour to walk alongside people on their unique journeys.
My particular areas of interest include supporting individuals living with chronic illnesses, traumatic brain injuries, and mental health challenges. These interests are rooted in both my personal experiences and my professional background as a youth worker within PEI’s Social Development and Seniors branch.
Outside of my work, I’m a proud dog dad to a 9-year-old standard poodle who loves chasing his ball and indulging in the occasional sweet treat. I also enjoy playing and watching sports, and spending time with friends and family.
As someone who is half Asian and was raised in a predominantly white society, I understand what it feels like to not quite “fit in.” If you’ve ever felt oppressed, marginalized, or unseen, please know that I see you. My approach is multicultural, humanistic, and flexible—I strive to adapt to your unique context and needs.
I truly believe in the healing power of connection, and I hope to walk with you toward a more aligned and empowered version of yourself.
