The Program
We are an approved practicum site with Yorkville University and Acadia University for their Masters Level counselling students.
Our Supervisors are approved as Practicum Supervisors with each university.
At the end of their studies, counselling students are required to complete a practicum which is a set number of direct client counselling, over several months, as a requirement of completing their degree and becoming Registered Counselling Therapist Candidates in Nova Scotia.
When counselling students enter the practicum portion of their studies, they are called Counselling Therapist Interns and are highly qualified and educated.
Counselling Therapist Interns work under direct supervision of their Practicum Supervisor; interns receive weekly supervision, regular group supervision, and regular peer clinical supervision. Counselling Therapist Interns are also supported by their professors and their Practicum Coordinator.
Clients receive exceptional care; direct support from their Counselling Therapist Intern, and indirect support from the Intern’s Practicum Supervisor, Professor, Practicum Coordinator, and peer group supervision.
Sessions are 50 minutes long and can be conducted in person, via video, or by phone.
