Intern

Karlie Nicols

Counselling Therapist Intern

Hello! My name is Karlie Nicols (she/her). I graduated from Saint Mary’s University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and I am currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. I am honoured to be part of the Couch of Hope team as a counselling intern as part of my Yorkville education.

Over the past five years, I have had the privilege of working in the mental health field, supporting individuals through a variety of challenges. I believe that you are the expert of your own experiences, and my role is to walk alongside you as you explore your story and move toward your goals, at a pace that feels comfortable and meaningful to you.

My counselling style is rooted in client-centred, trauma-informed, and strengths-based approaches. I find myself drawn towards mindfulness techniques and evidence-based modalities, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).

Drawing from both my personal and professional experiences, I recognize how important it is to have a supportive, nonjudgemental, and collaborative environment where you feel heard, valued, and understood. I am looking forward to providing this space for you on your journey.
